End of Season Tally of Trivial Results

This blog has attempted to track Big Ben's contribution to the Steelers' bottom line, in terms of their win/loss ratio, by comparing the team's success without Ben (during the suspension) to the team's success with Ben.

With the regular season over, all the data points are in, and the results are below. Curiously, the Steelers win just as many games with Ben as they do without Ben.

Comparison: Steelers Performance Without and With Ben Roethlisberger
Week 1: AtlantaWINNo Ben3 out of 4
75% WIN
WITHOUT BEN

Week 2: TennesseeWINNo Ben
Week 3: Tampa BayWINNo Ben
Week 4: BaltimoreLOSSNo Ben

Week 6: ClevelandWINBen9 out of 12
75% WIN
WITH BEN

Week 7: MiamiWINBen
Week 8: New OrleansLOSSBen
Week 9: CincinnatiWINBen
Week 10: New EnglandLOSSBen
Week 11: OaklandWINBen
Week 12: BuffaloWINBen
Week 13: BaltimoreWINBen
Week 14: CincinnatiWINBen
Week 15: NewYork JetsLOSEBen
Week 16: CarolinaWINBen
Week 17: ClevelandWINBen

The Steelers are a successful team, but Ben's presence plays no measurable role in their results   and the results are trivial, because they measure the result of athletic entertainment, and nothing more.

And in closing, a truly excellent post at Father Duquesne on Michael Vick and Ben Roethlisberger.
