The bicycle is a remarkable invention: efficient, enabling, elegant. It provides transportation to billions of people, tolerates a broad range of environments, and requires very little skill, training, or maintenance.

There's very little downside to bicycles; they're not generally used to oppress, occupy, or exploit.

At times bikes are used for purposes that nobody would have anticipated. One example that comes to mind is generating electricity for a remote village by pedaling a stationary bike connected to a generator.
