1957 BBC Pasta Harvest Documentary

From the 1957 BBC documentary:

Sequel to Atlas Shrugged Authorized

According to Locus Magazine:
Given that the original novel features an amazing new metal alloy, a secret valley protected by force field, and an unlimited new energy source, we felt that a science fiction perspective was key to carrying forward Ayn Rand's ideas," said Rand estate spokesman Perry Leikoff. "And what better science fiction writers to chose than two collaborators who were also past winners of the Prometheus Award given out by the Libertarian Futurist Society?"

Dear Vannevar:

Re: the Spaghetti Harvest

It had to be the early '60's...on a Jack Paar show ('member him?), he showed what he claimed were "home movies" of his family vacation in Italy including footage of the Spaghetti Harvest! For forty years, I've been thinking that Jack made up the gag (which was funny then and funny now); now you show me that it was "borrowed" from the Beeb. Sic transit...

(I still think Paar was pretty smart.)

Regards,

Frank
