This notion that he's building a perfect world for the one he loves (even though it's virtual) sparked an unusual introspection in me. What got me is: I'm not a world builder. I am fortunate to have loved ones. I'm not trying to build a better world for them. I'm trying to build them to pragmatically succeed in the flawed world-as-it-is.
It makes me wonder if I shouldn't be trying to build the world, in a way that some of my friends do spend their time, treasure, and energy. At the end of my reflection I realized that I'm not a world builder, I'm not a world improver; I'm a world user.
But I appreciate and respect the world builders, and in that vein I appreciate the engineer's role in the movie.
